Dining Room Reveal! The final tour.

Our dining room area is finally complete.
Phewff!
That took a while.
Things don’t happen overnight around here!
We have showed you snap shots of projects as they are getting completed around here, but today I want to show you the dining area as a whole.
I occupied the children long enough so I could snap a few pictures to show you the final reveal while it was still tidy.

Our all white plate wall was something I fought to have in our home even though my every-day-real-life people told me it wasn’t hip to have plates displayed in our home.

I am an old soul, so being “hip” has never been my top priority.

I am pretty in love with the final product and so are all the doubters.
I’m sure during my treasure hunting adventures I will find more vintage plates to add to my collection; which makes me enjoy the idea of this plate wall even more.
I love a good growing collection, dont you?
You can read about HOW easy it was to hang this plate wall and see step by step how ours came together HERE.

We bought this table and chairs off of a local selling web site and cut it down to size so it could accompany another piece we bought from a different seller but from that same site.

I painted out the red wood frame of the leather bench we adopted with a matte-black to match our dining room chairs.
You can read about their makeover HERE.
So far, it has really stood up to my children and their habit of washing their greasy hands off on anything other than a napkin.
The chairs were clad in an out door fabric simply by popping the cushion off and attaching new fabric with staples.
You can read the tutorial HERE.
This room gets so much light from our patio door; it makes snuggling up for a morning coffee on that soft leather bench that much more enjoyable.
I have always wanted a long harvest style table with lots of space for cutting with your elbows high. ๐Ÿ˜‰
With a coat of black paint on the legs and apron of this table it matches perfectly with the bench.
The table top got sanded down and got a new stained top.

I talked about how it is possible to get big projects like that completed with three crazy kids around.
You can check out some ideas HERE.

A simple wooden box holds salt and pepper shakers, some wooden letters that we use to prep my daughter for kindergarten in September, and a Bible for quick family devotions on liesurely mornings.

And then, just incase the kids need a minute to collect their thoughts, or need pulled apart mid food fight,  we have our little time out chair off to the side of this area.
You can see the before and after HERE if your little angels need one of their own at your house.
Some little crates live under our dining room bench now and hold some extras that we dont have room for in our hutch.
Their tutorial will be coming soon. ๐Ÿ™‚
It is now so easy to jump up on a dining room chair for a snack, or for some crafting, or to simply use our bench as a personal handkerchief.
The whole room has changed a lot since we moved in two years ago.
You can check out how we built this brick wall HERE.
You can see what is on the other side of our brick wall HERE.
And you can see just how far we have come by checking out this post HERE.
Our room has come a long way and has changed in style, but one thing will always remain the same when it comes to our homes revolving style and selections. We hold true to the fact that we complete all changes in our home by repurposing, recycling and sticking to a modest budget while doing things ourselves. It isn’t hard to get a new look, it just takes time and commitment to your design, and a little DIY effort.
You too can change things up around your place and add character in unexpected ways! I hope our changes inspire you to tackle that project that has been waiting for you.
Cant wait to hear what you will be working on this summer. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love your plate wall! I say "Too bad it's not hip to have plates on the wall!" I've always had some sort of plates on my walls!
