Simple Sunday – beauty in the broken

So many times when I meet and talk to someone it is obvious that they have been deeply wounded and hurt in their past. It is noticeable by the way they seem hardened and jaded and all around negative. I have a soft spot in my heart for people like this and I immediately wonder how I can help and encourage and restore their belief in man kind.

Then there are people who are fighting a silent battle. I may never know if these people are hurting or feeling alone because they are the type that smile through the pain. These people smile when it is hard to do so and don’t get that extra bit of encouragement and care from strangers.
Plato said it so well, “Be kind. For everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle”. This is so true and the older (more mature) I become I realize it more and more.

I am trying to look deeper into many situations and to give the benefit of the doubt, to offer kindness and friendship to those around me, regardless.

Re blogged from here

It is difficult not to become jaded and hard from people and situations that have wronged you in your life.

I know, and I truly sympathize.
I know that the world can be a terrible place that is unfair and deals a hard hand to the best of people.

I ALSO believe the above quote, and that the world can be seen as a beautiful place full of beautiful people if your heart is open and you are willing to look beyond your hurt.

Please don’t let your heart grow hard towards love and friendship and kindness. All three exist and are yours to be had. No matter what hand you have been dealt and no matter how alone or judged you feel at times.

If you look hard enough you can find beauty in this broken world that I love so much.

What an uplifting post to wake up to! And an extra hour to think about our blessings this morning. Thank you.
