Sugar Free Ice Tea Recipe

Do you have a favourite summer time beverage?

Mine is something I grew up calling “sun tea” which is essentially iced tea that has been brewed on the kitchen counter where it can bask in the sun.

By the way, do you say “iced tea” OR “ice tea”?! I use both terms interchangeably. πŸ˜†

I’m not sure if the creation of “sun tea” is a REAL thing, or if it was just something my mother taught me to make to keep me occupied on long hot summer days, but regardless, it’s delicious, so I don’t care either way! πŸ˜†

Lately, I’ve made my own version of my favourite childhood drink “sugar” free and it tastes so so good!! I just HAD to share it with you!

All you need to have on hand to make this is:

10 cups of filtered water

1 lemon squeezed

4-5 orange pekoe tea bags

Sugar free lemon flavouring to taste, I used “Mio”

This can also be made with different fruit added to it like strawberries, peaches and raspberries for an extra kick of deliciousness! πŸ˜†πŸ‹πŸ“

How to make:

Add 4-5 orange pekoe tea bags to a glass pitcher .

Boil 4 cups of water.

Gently pour the hot water over the tea bags and let rest for one minute.

Slice and quarter a fresh lemon and add it to your boiling water and tea bags.

Next fill your pitcher with six more cups of water and place in a bright spot on your kitchen counter for your tea to steep.

Once your tea is brewed to your liking (probably 30 minutes later) remove tea bags, add ice and add your sugar free “Mio” lemon flavouring to taste.

A little goes a long way, so I would start with one small squeeze and go from there!

That’s it, refrigerate your remaining ice tea and enjoy!

Did you ever do something as a kid and then grew up to find out that not all families did that same thing?

I legit assumed, ALL ice tea was made at home like this until I was an adult. πŸ˜†

I’m looking at you “Brisk” and “Tetley”…..πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ€”

I’d love to know if you try this recipe and what you think?
