Happy Superbowl!! {A healthy snack alternative: Roasted Tandoori Chickpeas}

So I hear there is some big game on Sunday??
Something with guys who wear padding and who run all over the place yelling “hut” a lot. Now, if they were referring to a primitive dwelling, then perhaps I would be semi interested and offer my decorating opinion. But I hear that is just a way to pass the football they are all fighting over.
Though, what is with Peyton Manning yelling “Omaha”?
Ya, I don’t get it either.
Don’t get me wrong, I love sports and I even played some flag football in high school but I just cant sit still long enough on Sunday afternoons to know enough about tomorrows Superbowl.

So instead, I will cook some yummy food and we will have some people over and I will stare at the happenings, try to follow along, yet all the while everyone will know I am just there for the good eats.
Like these.

We are trying to make healthier snack choices around here, so we made up these Roasted Tandoori Chickpeas that are just as satisfying as chips and pretzels without the added fat, calories and gluten.

The best part about this healthy and flavorful snack is that you only need three ingredients.
Perfect.
More time to clean the house and stuff things in cupboards before the guests arrive.

To make them, first preheat your oven to 350F. Next, open a 540 ml can of chickpeas and drain and rinse them thoroughly. Place them in a plastic bag and pour in two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and lastly 2 tsp of tandoori masala Indian barbeque spice. (You can find this in the spice isle at your local grocery store)

Then, put on your favorite tune and dance about while shaking all your ingrediants together in your plastic bag.

Pour your coated chickpeas out onto a tin foil lined baking sheet and put in the oven for 30 minutes, or until they have a cruncky-snacky texture. Oven temperatures will vary.
Then go ahead and devour these bad boys.
(For an entire cup of these you will only be ingesting
300 calories, 34.5 carbs, and yet you’ll also be getting 11 grams of
protein and 8 grams of fiber) Take THAT chips!
You will once and for all, wow your taste buds, guests and your waistline with this quick and delicious snack alternative. 🙂
Happy Superballin’ babes. 😉

I hope you liked them Marty! We switched them up a bit and did a Greek seasoning with garlic and lemon and they were so good too. Very versatile. 😉 It is too bad that Superbowl game wasnt as great. ;0
