Our Lower Level Progress

Soooooo, it has been a long time since we have updated you on the progress of our lower level.
If you have been following along then you know that we are on our lower levels second renovation.

Yep, you read that right.

We moved into this house almost two years ago and we first converted the space into a living area for my sister, who had moved in with our family.

Read more about this story HERE.

That
entailed ripping up the old flooring, replacing it with new under pad
and new carpet, replacing the trim work, giving the space new lighting
and painting. The space had storage space that we decided to convert
into a full bathroom. We broke the cement ground, laid piping, built a
shower, installed a tub, laid tile, caulked, painted, grouted, put in a
toilet and accessorized.

Then she moved out.

The
space went unused for the next year as I was busy being pregnant and on
doctor ordered bed rest with our third babies pregnancy, and the hubby worked on his to do list in other rooms in our home.

But then, we decided to create the space into an area that could generate happiness and an income!!

We got to work building a salon!!! If you have been following along for a bit then you will know that I have completed a three year cosmetology apprenticeship program, finished schooling and have recently and finally gotten my red seal trade license to be a hairdresser! Now my creativity can be focused daily, and hopefully I can have a more schedule to be home more with my babies like I have always dreamed of doing.

But, enough of my ramblings! Lets get to the good stuff!

Here is our inspirational board for the space!!

You can tell I want a very neutral theme to create an environment that won’t impede expressing creativity.

I usually don’t have a plan when decorating, but for this space I knew we would be deciding on elements that would have to work for a business and stand the test of time. I picked pieces that are both rustic and elegant. We have loved watching the space come together!

I also wanted the room to stay true to our style in the other parts of our house. A little old mixed with a little new, so shopping has been a lot of fun!

I cant wait to show you what elements from the inspiration board have been purchased and what projects I have been working on to get to a space that is 80% finished! Yaaaaaaa!

Now that I have shared more of this space with you, I better get moving on the other 20%!!

Happy Wednesday Friends!!

Looking forward to seeing it complete! Love the wall paper (or is it fabric?) and the little end table. So pretty! And you're right, neutrals are always elegant.
