Yesterday I told you all about some painting projects I had completed.
Old mismatched frames got some new white paint and some old mirrors got a coat of black chalk board paint.
All to ordain this empty wall in our master bedroom and give it some much needed personality.
Disclaimer: (Please ignore the trim less wall. We are over our heads here in projects and our bedroom hasn’t been the first priority. For all you visionaries, just picture some nice chair rail molding and trim inserts beneath. 🙂
One day it will happen…)
But TODAY, I have this little wall to show you…
It started off empty.
In fact, We moved a big armoir from this wall after I refinished the dresser pictured.
(More to come later on that project)

This is the before-before!
This cool grey-blue was a great color,it just did not work for the master bedroom in my opinion. It felt cold and sterile and needed some warmth to it.
The wall with the decorative art work is where my gallery wall is now!
First, I roughly laid out the newly painted frames and the mirrors new chalkboard frames. I tried a few arrangements until I got the look I was going for. I wanted some depth on the wall, and figured out a relatively easy pattern that incorporated big and small frames who’s glass I had broken previously, that I found laying around the house.
My husband will be shocked when he sees this picture.
I mean, I took my time and used a level! This never happens. Usually I pop in a nail here or there or anywhere and don’t worry, knowing I can tweak it later with some more holes.
I have learned my awful lesson, and despise filling in holes left from pictures and wall art.
I am gaining patience and persistence with every passing year, and project. 🙂
Me and that level took our time.
I may have even used some dry wall studs for extra security.
I am on a roll.
My husband and parents, I’m sure, are beaming. Thankful that all of their speeches on measuring twice and smashing holes in walls once, has now paid off.
I am loving my idea to incorporate some chalkboard frames within the little gallery wall. It leaves the perfect place to write chore lists sweet reminders.

This is a working dresser in our bedroom which holds nice things and functional things.
These two lamps use to be black and I painted them a glossy white to add some brightness to this wall.
Framed pictures of the family wouldn’t be complete without one of our dog Lola,
Art adores her and the kids love to ride her as a pony. Poor thing puts up with it all. She may eat garbage like its the last food source on earth, but she treats her family well with abundant snuggles.
This little area charges our phones and cameras. It is so great to know where you can find a charging source in a busy house.
I love white candles. You will find them throughout our house. They create such a nice ambiance, though the fake candles are just fine when the kids are about.
I love the way this little wall ended up turning out. It is at the foot of our bed and is quite the focal point. The kids have already written little love notes on the chalkboard frames and I am still pinching myself from listing the honey-do-list. 😉
And just because I love a good before and after…
And THAT is my interpretation of a little gallery wall.
I cant wait to play around with the chalkboards and write cute little sayings and funny reminders. It is a great way to immediately personalize a space.

October 11, 2012 at 10:30 amIt looks great. I love the way you can change the look with different says, words,pictures on the black board frames. I have a large black board in our family room. It has our lists and jobs etc and we write quotes, poems pictures..etc. Even visitors like to contribute. Black board paint is fun!
Oh and I can sooooo relate to wanting to whack something up without checking the level…. Frustrating but worth it in the end..( I do have to remind myself that EVERY TIME though ;).

October 14, 2012 at 4:31 amDespite some trial and error you got the job done excellently. I love the idea of the frames within the frames and making chalkboards. Haven't seen the frames turned into chalkboards, especially in a bedroom. Great to leave sweet notes to your honey.
Too often we get too busy to say the things we should to our other half. Good for you. We can all use your idea for inspiration.
I too tend to just put that nail in the wall without being sure it's properly balanced and level, (don't come to our house to see how wonky alot of the pictures are on the wall, (sigh). My hubs has given up scolding me after almost 44 yrs. of it.
