We have been getting in the holiday spirit over here. Our Christmas tree is up, our stockings have been hung, we have been playing Christmas carols since December 1st and we have made every excuse to have warm apple cider and hot chocolate (with lots of marshmallows) every chance we get — even at bed time.
Surprising, we even have our Christmas shopping for the kids done! This is a first, so I figured we should also get a jump start on Christmas cards. What a great time of year to let those you love KNOW that they hold such a special place in your heart and life, and what better way to do so then to make a card for them. I love getting Christmas cards! Any way they arrive in my mail box though. π
I thought for a mere moment that I was really outdoing myself, getting my Christmas-craft-on before mid December!
Then….I got a gorgeous card in the mail from a sweet friend, and realized I am always behind on seasonal things, even if I try really hard!
Are you like that?
I mean, I am so bad that when I cleaned out my truck a month ago, I found a Christmas card I hadn’t hand delivered from LAST year. Whoops!
(Lets not even get me started on the baby announcements that I had to have completed one day — but still haven’t mailed…our baby is six months old now.)
Maybe I will send the birth announcement with the Christmas cards?? π
So, the kids and I decided to replicate this craft found here and put our own spin on a handmade card adorned with pretty buttons. The one above is my favourite for its shimmery quality. π
My daughter loved helping glue these pink “Christmas balls” on this little silhouette type wreath. They came from a necklace that she loved — loved so much she ripped it out of her brothers grasp breaking it to pieces.
(We are trying to get in the Christmas spirit over here. ;))
These little cards are super easy to make.
All you need is some card stock paper, a fine tip black marker, glue, some random buttons and a little imagination.
I hope you find some time to relax this weekend with the ones you love, creating and making memories together while sharing in the season that is most filled with love and joy.
Maybe you could even try your hand at Christmas cards? π

December 9, 2012 at 10:17 amWhat a cute idea – love the button cards! The German post office is a bit particular about sending oddly shaped things, so I can only make them for people who get their cards from me personally. Thanks for sharing!
