How to make a starburst mirror

Don’t you love it when you are searching for a treasure and you search and search and then FIND exactly what you were looking for!? 

Me too!

I have been searching for a star burst mirror for a lonnnnng time. I was so excited to cross paths with a Syroco gold star burst mirror in my local thrift store.  

Yaahhh! This meant that I could stop hiding those wooden paint stir sticks up my sleeve every time I went to the paint section of my local hardware store! 

 What, you dont do that too?? I love all of the paint stick diy star burst mirrors that are all the rage right now! Now I could stop my stick collection and instead make my own version of a diy star burst mirror. 

I picked my mouth up off of the floor after looking at the $4 dollar price tag, paid and scurried home.

Once at home I looked over my long awaited treasure and dusted her off. I loved her gold tone, but after viewing her dust free self, I knew the chipped paint wouldn’t do and that she needed a new coat of white paint.

I made sure she was free of dust and years of grime and removed her clock face so it wouldn’t get damaged with my wild spray painting strokes and headed to the garage. It took about 2.5 seconds to give her a quick spray down with all purpose glossy white. I am speedy accurate like that.

 Once she dried up I put the clock face back together again (all those years in elementary school taking apart pens to see how they worked had finally paid off! Though I still haven’t been able to put back together my sewing machine that I randomly disabled to see how its components worked.)

Though, once back together it was very noticeable that the clock face had aged over time and was an off white compared to her new glossy coat of white.

So I had a new idea.

I bought a circular mirror from the dollar store and decided to super glue it in place of the clock face.

Hubby said I was crazy for wanting a star clock/mirror, and swore I got some spray paint on his tools while I had spray painted wildly in the garage. 

(Nap time is very unpredictable with a little baby in my defense!)

 He shook his head at this sight too…
