A little about me and my continuous journey to wellness.

I can’t wait to just jump right in with The Super Woman wellness series!
Thank you for all of the positive feedback about this first ever series here at This Little Estate.
For those of you who don’t know me you might think why does this hairdresser girly-girl who likes building and diy-ing all the time, want to now talk about wellness?! What could she possibly know about the topic!?
Well, If you had of talked to me ten years ago, I would have agreed. Before babies, and before being confidant, I was a self proclaimed wreck.
I was like you and probably your daughters, and for sure like most girls my age.
I knew little about fitness and nutrition, yet was bombarded by the rail thin models on the cover of magazines and the even skinnier models that walked down the catwalk on my favorite television station at the time. Fashion was what my friends and I were interested in; looking great and wearing the latest trends to feel good, gain popularity and to be all around desirable. Yet, we had no clue how to get to our desired result!
I wish I could turn back time and talk to my twenty year old self or even better, my fifteen year old self.
At the time, I thought in order to be desirable and happy like the girls on the magazine covers, it meant depriving myself of normal necessities in life.
Hence the food battle began.
I thought, skipping that meal here or there, or eating bird size portions meant that I would be able to buy those jeans and have them look just right. I had no idea the harm I was doing to my body, to my emotions and to my temperament.
I know I am not the only one.
In my life time I have witnesses women and mothers skipping meals because they wanted to squeeze into that special outfit for that special occasion. I remember skipping breakfast for years, feeling that same way, and thinking those same thoughts. We have determination, but sometimes have no clue what we are doing!
Ultimately, my desire now is to be a healthy role model and to be a fabulous example to my own little girl.
I want her to see me as a positive role model and to see women around her as the types of women she would like to grow up and become like.
I wish as a teenager, that someone had of taken the time to TEACH me about wellness.
(Me at almost 20 years old)
I wish someone had of showed me that food was not the enemy. I wish that I had of known what I know now. I wish that someone had of explained to me that eating and eating well will actually help with gaining the look and body and feelings about confidence that I always wanted. I wish I had of known what to study to educate myself. I wish I had of met me NOW, just to sit down, with a tea, and to discuss tips and tricks to gain over all wellness.
(Me at almost 30 years old)
I think I would have learned a thing or two from my almost 30 year old self!
(I hope she would have shared some of her knowledge on the confusing topic of men…but that is a whole other post. ;))
Which brings US to today.
I am by no means an expert when it comes to wellness, personally I think there is always room to gain more knowledge and try out new ideas; wellness is a way of life, and there are so many facets to living an all around WELL and HAPPY life.
I have learned there is always more to know about living the best life for YOU.
I am no expert, but what I do have, is a lot of experience doing the wrong things and learning from my mistakes; working out way too hard and not seeing results and reading tons of books about nutrition and fitness and how our bodies work and grow, and feeling more confused than ever. I have been vegetarian for most of my life, and yet have eaten all the wrong things. And more than once, I have succumbed to trying out new fitness trends, for a fast fix.
Through my schooling as a Personal Support Worker, a Personal Fitness Instructor, and a Recreation and Leisure Program Planner, I have learned A LOT. Through three pregnancies in five years, I have gained a total of 80 lbs! I have worked hard at making choices that have proven to make positive results in my over all health and well being and I have learned every helpful shortcuts along the way!
And now, I want to share it all with YOU
No need to endure that dreaded student debt. ๐Ÿ˜‰
As a chronic student, I have come to realize I love learning, but most of all I love sharing what I have learned.
Behind the scenes of my DIY-ing and constant painting, I am the first one to jump into a conversation about healthy eating or a new exercise. My friends ask my opinion on healthful living and I love to offer my opinion on what has worked for me.
Overall, I love the truth that with simply eating well, our bodies will naturally fight diseases, make our insides better, and it will show in the form of our skin and bodies overall health! To me, that is simply amazing.
I am constantly looking to simplify life, so the recipes you will find in this series will be fast and effective and the nutrition and wellness topics will be concise and direct. This simplification is for you, and for me too; my attention span is small, my three kids give me limited time to do things for myself, and truthfully, I probably have something in my house needing that second coat of paint by now.
So, that is a little about me. ๐Ÿ™‚
I am thankful for each and every one of you that reads this blog and who shares your life back with me. The little emails I receive from some of you truly brighten my day!! So thank you for being so awesome, and I hope to return a little bit of that awesomeness back to you in the form of sharing.
Stay tuned for the first installment of the Super Woman Wellness Series! In the mean time, go do something for yourself today that makes you happy, makes you a better person, uses up some of your creativity and something you are passionate about!

Talk soon!
