Yahhh! It is Friday! Friday before the Chrismas holidays! School is out and the family is together and there is lots to be expectant about!
I wanted to drop in and share with you a little treat we whipped up last week. If you are blessed to have some sweeties at home they will love this little dessert as much as we do.
We love a good candy apple, I mean, who doesn’t? Anything edible on a stick is pretty darn delicious. But candy apples always seem to be around for the best occasions! They are at every fall fair dipped in hard sticky red candy, at carnivals and in the window of our favourite chocolate store! They always look oh-so-good, and taste even better!
We usually go for the caramel dipped ones and if we are feeling that we need an extra dose of sweetness, we will get the caramel ones that are THEN dipped in delectable Skor bits!
Mmmmm….
We decided that candy covered apples are not just a necessity at fall fairs and knew we needed to make a winter version! With some white chocolate and simple items in your pantry you can replicate this chocolate covered apple that looks just as good as ole Frosty the snowman!
All you need is:
Medium sized apples
White chocolate wafers
Chocolate chips
Orange smarties or candy corn
Mini marshmallows
First we melted the chocolate in a glass bowl over a roaring saucepan of water. This literally takes minutes. Then we dipped our apples into the chocolate and spun them around over the bowl of melted chocolate to keep any excess drips in the bowl and to make sure the chocolate ended up drying rather smoothly.
We put the chocolate covered apples on some wax paper to cool and immediately got to decorating the Frosty faces.
For the little top hats, we dipped some marshmallows into some red chocolate and put them on top of a red chocolate wafer to set.
Soooooo simple and everyone will LOVE the final result!!
I hope you enjoy these little treats as much as we do!
So easy and so good! And isn’t a dessert healthy if it has a fruit in it?? That’s what I will tell myself when I devour this scrumtious snowman later in a corner hiding from my kids.
And since it is the holiday of giving….here is a joke from my heart to yours!
I know, I shouldn’t wait by the phone for a call to start my comedy career, should I?
Have a great weekend everyone!
Enjoy the simple moments with your family and friends! We look forward to dropping in sometime over the weekend to wish you a very Merry Christmas!
PS: Our bathroom remodel is going to be all the talk next week, keep an eye out!
