Entry Way Hook Solution

I am in love with our new entry way hooks.

They have saved me so much time and nagging.

You have to know what I mean? Right?

Most times when we come and go from our home we are too busy/have our hands full/are too lazy/ to go into the closet to search for a lone hanger for our jacket.
Most times our jackets get thrown over something or tossed in some corner that is otherwise reserved for spider webs and naughty children. 😉

If you have a partner or children, then you know what I mean.

It seems impossible for them, with their little arms, small attention span and sudden inability to problems solve effectively to hang up their coats, sweaters and hats.

At our house, we encounter much of the issues mentioned above, so we came up with the entry way hook solution.

Our entry way looked like this when we bought the house.

.

After we ripped up the falling apart linoleum and yucky carpet it looked like this:

(I hastily hung a light fixture that I bought before measuring if it would smack all of our guest straight in the middle of their foreheads. )

Fail!

But I was blindly motivated to change this mls picture of our new house.

After new tile, paint, moulding, trim, door handles, light switches, lighting, and carpet, the view from our front door looks like this:

Here is how we made a few changes that end up making a big impact.

I love the colour blue but can’t commit to an entire blue wall or a blue sofa.
Instead, I play around with pops of blue throughout my house.
Easy to add into a decor, and easy to take out!
In our entry way I wanted to add some blue to an unused corner.
We have a tiny front entry closet and so I wanted to utilize the short passage way leads from the entry into our powder room.

I taped off an area by using a level a pencil and some painters tape. I then painted within its perimeter.
I used my “Whoops paint” again that I used on the “Entry way dresser/catch all”.
I then used the same stencil from my coffee table upgrade project to number the hooks.

I got these hooks for a steal from my local ReStore.
They were $1.50 each! I was going to buy them from another store for $4.99.
I love that they have two hooks on one and were a fabulous deal.  I used some anchors to make sure I could hang a dozen coats on one hook at a time.

These four oil-rubbed-bronze hooks add such easy extra storage.

I stood back and realized that the little corner needed a little something more.
So the “Motivational Wall” was developed.

I found some beautiful and motivational sayings from Etsy  (unfortunately these were framed over a year ago when I did this little project and when blogging about them wasn’t in my plans! I don’t have the sources at this time but I will try my best to locate them if you are interested! If you know the sources please pm me so I can give rightful credit where it is due! )

These are such great reminders….

My son loves that one.

I love how these black frames stand out on the light wall.

Such great “Rules” for parents and kids…

These frames are a little mismatched but since they are all the same color they portray a uniform look.

I have been planning on adding some wood trim along the top and bottom of the blue stripe for a more finished look. (That trim has been sitting in the garage under numerous other unfinished projects. For like a year.)

I couldn’t wait any longer though, I just had to show you how a half an hour of time and effort can add a whole different functionality to a space.

Now coats and extras don’t end up laying over the banister posts (as much) anymore 🙂

We still have room to leave the powder room door open or closed.

I love this little area we created that is so close to our entry closet.
I love forgoing picking up back packs and jackets from the bottom of that little closet.
I love how that blue stripe gives a punch of colour in a very neutral space.
I love the way the new frames, light fixture and door handles contrast against all of the white and off white.
I love organizing and making things easier for the husband the whole family.

Thanks for checking it out.

It is crazy what some small areas in our homes get over looked when they could be utilized and used to our advantage.

Do you have a space that could make leaving the house a smoother process? I encourage you to look at your home in a new way this weekend. You might just be able to squeeze in a little project like this one 😉

If you look close enough there may just be the perfect unused wall or corner in your house that can be used to inspire the most important people in your life.

Happy organizing and inspiring friends!
