HELP! Master Bedroom Updates and a Headboard Project.

Last year I showed you our master bedroom reveal and ever since I have been on the hunt for a headboard for our king size bed.
I really wanted to soften the look of the room and the hard edges of our furniture pieces by incorporating an upholstered headboard into our bedroom. So obviously, being the savvy DIY-er that I claim to be, I have been stalking all of my favorite blogs that are filled with tutorials on how to make my own headboard at home.

BUT then..last week….I spotted THIS headboard shoved in the corner of a little local thrift store.
Suddenly my plans changed slightly.
(Excuse the awful phone camera pictures that I took early in the morning.)
I just had to share this baby with you and get some much needed feedback. Couldn’t wait for the sun to even come up fully!

I mean, this textured wicker and wood headboard was only FIVE BUCKS! NOW you know why I am so pumped by it!
How could I not drag it to the front of the little shop, toss it over my shoulder and stuff it in the back of our vehicle….
So I did.

For now, I want to to paint this thing, and eventually I picture it covered in cushy stuffing and covered and tufted with beautiful material.
I couldn’t even buy mdf board for my own diy upholstered headboard for this price, so in the end I think I’m even saving some precious pennies!
Maybe in the end I will even add a pretty nail head trim.
I can see it now! I think this little project can finish off our room perfectly.
For now, I think the texture is pretty in our room and I just need to decide on a colour to paint it before I can get around to covering it and prettifying it up.
And if you know us, then you know that this may take a while since we take on way too many projects at once.
Let me know what you think! What colour should I paint it…white…grey…dark…light…
I would love some input!
