Spring Organizing and Some Added Vintage Charm

We have been spring cleaning over here for a couple of months.
Organizing, purging and organizing again.
With three kids tearing around our house it is hard to keep things in order for too long.
Our house is in a constant state of tweaking and rearranging and that is fine with me – each day there is always something to do!

My husband, on the other hand, would argue that he never knows where to find anything and that my “organizing” usually expands into every room of our home and creates chaos for too long.
Isn’t that the irony of organizing??
Well, I think I nailed some organizing recently and so I had to share this easy fix.

Our china cabinet is sleek in design and I am always trying to figure out what I can add to it to give it some vintage character.
I switched out the colorful globes that adorned its’ top a few months ago and switched them out for some sea grass baskets which enabled me some more much needed space for things.
Of course I had these baskets laying around the house since I have a basket obsession collection.
These square beauties, with handles for easy moving, were 75% off when I purchased them; they cost me a whopping $5 a piece!
I simply printed off some numbers off of my home printer and cut out the number with an exacto knife creating a large stencil for myself.
I then centered it in the middle of my baskets and used a thick black permanent marker to trace and then colour in my numbers.
Some French inspired tags were added to the handles so I can list what is in each basket for quick retrieval.
My party-planner-in-training-little-girl helped organize a cluttered kitchen cupboard and collected all of our napkins into one basket.
(Can you tell what kind of party my little Princess will be having this July?) ๐Ÿ˜‰

Another basket is packed full of party decorations and the last one is full of table linens.
Such an easy project that creates so much texture and organization to our little china cabinet corner.
That paper wreathe also got relocated and gives our dishware some much needed privacy. ๐Ÿ˜‰
You can visit Jenn at The City Famrhouse to see how she made her paper wreath and where I got my inspiration from for mine.
I’m loving how shopping my house is becoming my new favourite thing to do.
It is so convenient to have all of our party planning materials close at hand and yet no one would ever know. ๐Ÿ˜‰
I also love that my little man is in the reflection of that last picture and he seems to have stolen his sisters Popsicle! This Mama had no idea until I heard his happy lip smacking and saw the pink stained white tshirt.
My next project should be how to tie die shirts to camouflage stains…
Im gonna go get on that one.
Happy Weekend Friends!

Hey… What about adding some fabric to back (behind the glass) or those big sheets of fancy gift wrap, or wallpaper, to add some design to the back and some pop to it. You could always remove it when you are tired of it and use double stick tape to hold it in place….

    : ) I enjoy your blog. Thanks for sharing…
