Simple Sunday {Be encouraged. Keep being you. Spread love anyways.}

Today I am bringing back “Simple Sunday”, a time when I share some words from my heart that are meant to inspire and encourage.
So, this is a Simple Sunday post, but sometimes life isn’t at all simple, is it?
In actuality it can be complex and confusing and at times, downright weird.
Have you ever had it where you feel misunderstood? Where people in your life, don’t actually take the time to see your heart? They judge your motives, They misinterpret your life, They are critical, They are negative and They have no problem sharing their negative opinions with others, about you??
If you are female, and reading this, I am sure this has happened to you at least twice today. 😉 And that’s only from your husband!
When I am feeling misunderstood and when my motives are misconstrued, I try to focus on positivity.
I wanted to share three different works with you, which all have the same thread of “love” running through them. The same idea of continuing, persisting and growing your positive outlook on difficult people and circumstances.
Martina McBrides words rang loud and clear at my high school graduation and I will never forget how the words of her song were able to touch the coldest hearts of my graduating class.
Her song “Do it Anyway” is still one of my favs:
You can spend your whole life building something from nothing
One storm can come and blow it all away … build it anyway
You can chase a dream that seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way … dream it anyway
God is great, but sometimes life ain’t good
And when I pray it doesn’t always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway … I do it anyway
This worlds gone crazy and it’s hard to believe,
That tomorrow will be better than today … believe it anyway
You can love someone with all your heart, for all the right reasons
And in a moment they can choose to walk away … love em anyway
God is great, but sometimes life ain’t good
And when I pray it doesn’t always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway … yeah, I do it anyway
You can pour your soul out singing a song you believe in
That tomorrow they’ll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway … yeah, sing it anyway yeah, yeah
I sing … I dream … I love … Anyway
Mother Teresa is another one who spoke words that are able to touch my heart. Her thoughts are so pure and genuine and words that I like to focus on when the going gets tough and the ride of life is too rough.
She said this:

 People are often
unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.
Forgive
them anyway.

If you are kind,
people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Be kind
anyway.

If you are
successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine
enemies.  Succeed anyway.
           If
you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.
Be honest and
sincere anyway.

What
you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.
Create
anyway.

If
you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.
Be happy
anyway.

The
good you do today, will often be forgotten.
Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will
never be enough.

Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is
between you and God.

It was never between you and them anyway.
I am in love with this whole idea of ignoring what others say, and instead looking deep into your own heart and finding the truths of who you are.

Lastly, Dr. Kent M. Keith also had some amazing things to say about being you, staying true and being confidant and constant.

His “Paradoxical
Commandments”
are truths that I try to incorporate with Mother Teresa’s and echo her sentiment.

He said:

  1. People are illogical, unreasonable, and
    self-centered.
    Love them anyway.
  2. If you do good, people will accuse you of
    selfish ulterior motives.
    Do good anyway.
  3. If you are successful, you win false
    friends and true enemies.
    Succeed anyway.
  4. The good you do today will be forgotten
    tomorrow.
    Do good anyway.
  5. Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
    Be honest and frank anyway.
  6. The biggest men and women with the biggest
ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest
    minds.
    Think big anyway.
  7. People favor underdogs but follow only top
    dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.
  8. What you spend years building may be
    destroyed overnight.
    Build anyway.
  9. People really need help but may attack you
    if you do help them.
    Help people anyway.
  10. Give the world the best you have and you’ll
    get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.

Guys, if you are reading this, and you can relate to feeling misunderstood and unjustly misinterpreted, then follow Nike’s slogan and “just do it”.

Do it all, all of what these three great people have sang and spoken about, do it all –anyways.

I have learned in my 31 years of life, that you will only grow your positivity if you love when they don’t deserve it, cheer when they haven’t earned it, praise when they aren’t worthy, edify instead of tearing down, and do it all with a happy and true heart.

Try it. You will be happy you did.

And to keep it a little comical, always remember this:
What Susie says of Sally says more of Susie than of Sally. Remember that.
PS: If you really want to spread the love, then check out this post about The Porch Project. You too can get involved sharing a little bit of love, with those around you, in a tangible way. This broken world can always use a little more love.

What an awesome person you are!
You made me think of another saying that I saw on Pinterest…about how you can be the juiciest peach but there is always somebody who doesn't like peaches! Or like my husband, allergic to them LOL
