All That Glitters is Gold! {Making a pretty little corner on the cheap.}

Last night I ran out to the grocery store with our two youngest babies.
You know how it goes, you run out for one essential ingredient and then two hours later you return home with a trunk full of groceries and an insane-mommy-look in your eyes from the whining and the dozen bathroom breaks.

I left my husband home with our oldest son and they convinced me that without distractions they would be working on our master bathroom makeover.
(Lets not even talk about how when I returned they hadn’t accomplished a thing, because in the disaster that is our reno house, we misplace tools more often than not.)

But this isn’t a post to tell you all about how our reno has stalled. It is a post about how sometimes things just fall into place when you least expect it too.
As any grocery shopping run with little children goes, I convinced them if they didn’t jump out of the shopping cart again, or dig into the box of fishy crackers before we bought it,  then we would hit up the near by Dollar Tree to “see” if they had any treats.
It turned out they had more than what was expected!
You see, I had just talked my amazing-hardworking-bend-over-bakwards-for-your-wifey-husband (men work on bathrooms when you praise them, ladies.) to install some pretty shelves in the corner of my home salon.
My thoughts were that I wanted to add some shelves above the mini fridge and coffee machine that is in the corner of This Little Salon. I wanted the shelves to hold some of the pretty cups, mugs and coffee essentials I use often. I also wanted the corner to not only be functional, but to be a pretty little eye catching corner too.
I was delightfully surprised when I spotted these little gold striped boxes for $1.25 while searching for some “treats” as promised.

And then I grabbed some pretty tiny black napkins, also for $1.25.
Then I pretty much swooned over this pretty glass with the gold rim! I wanted to buy arm loads full, but I truthfully don’t need them. (Hate when that happens!)
I know where to go if I find a place for more though. 😉
I also found the prettiest glittery gold paper to fill some of my picture frames with.
LOVE!

And last, but not least, I found this amazing gold tape that had been on my “want” list for months. I may have squealed out loud when I spotted it.
I mean, it was perfect!
Sometimes crazy grocery trips with starving children are worth it when finds like this are  scooped up.
(Insert goofy happy face here.)
So like any stripe loving DIY-er, I got to work adding some stripes inbetween some of the shelves that were installed by my man.
I’m almost done styling the coffee corner, now that I have finished filling the shelves with some of these pretty $1.25 pieces.
I cant wait to pull out my good camera and to take some actual photos of how the space looks now and to break down how little it cost to spruce up this small corner of our house.
If you like glitter, metallics, chocolate and pretty dish ware then you will love this little spot as much as I do.
Now I am going to go reward myself with a warm evening drink in the prettiest corner in our house. 😉
