Healthy Halloween Monsters Recipe/Tutorial

I can’t believe we are in our third week of October!
Time is just flying by these days!

In less than two weeks all the little children in our neighbourhood will be prowling the streets trick or treating and looking oh-so-cute in their little costumes. I cant wait to dress our baby up  for the first time in something adorable for the occasion!

It is such a time of abundance where we are from.
Children can end up with so much sugar, chocolate and candy that Mommies and Daddies will find themselves sneaking treats into next year!
SHHHHHHHHHH!

So, to counter act the sugar rushes, the kids and I made these “Healthy Halloween Monsters.”

I’m sure there could be many variations on these little monsters; we just used what we had on hand and what I knew the kids would happily eat!

Supplies for “Healthy Halloween Monsters”:

small oval plums
red apples
large marshmallows
small marshmallows
chocolate chips

We made some “one eyed monsters” by slicing a large marshmallow in half and using a chocolate chip for the pupil of the eye. Gross!

We cut open our plum and pieces of apple and smothered peanut butter inside the “mouths”. We inserted small marshmallows for “teeth”, and chocolate chips for where the teeth were “missing”.

The kids loved pretending the monsters were trying to bite off their fingers as they squished the marshmallows into their toothy grins.

We made some “monster eye balls” by slicing a plum length wise and taking the pit out.

We put a little marshmallow in its place and a chocolate chip on top to finish it off!

It was fun making little faces after that!
We play with our food at this house!

The picture above is suppose to be a “Scary fox”. Hmmmm. I think I have to agree with the creative three year old in this house!

They couldn’t wait to eat these quick and healthy monsters before they turned around and ate them!

HA!

I hope you will try this fun snack with your family or friends before Halloween is upon us!

Happy Almost (13 days to go, but who is counting!) Halloween!
