“This Little Salon” {A Peek Inside}

Happy Monday lovelies!
I hope your week is off to a good start! It is sunny here and I finally cleared out that big mess (see previous post) from our living area and we have been tackling projects all weekend, all of this makes me happy and full of anticipation for a new week!
to be honest, we haven’t been able to complete many projects at a super fast rate, ever since I have been back to work. For those of you who don’t know, I am a hairstylist and I just started to work from home.
Recently, I realized that I have forgotten to share with you guys where I spend the majority of my time now. I am enjoying the flexibility of working from home and spend most of my time in the lower level of our home. I have shared with you in the past how we gutted our lower level, but I was too covered in paint and dry wall dust, and lets be honest, exhausted, so I forgot to show you HOW the lower level looks now.
I need to take some proper pictures of the space where I work daily, but for now, I figure these ones that were snapped on my break, will do.

We call this place “This Little Salon” and it is obviously a fun spin off from my blogs name.

When you walk through our front door and into our entry way, you can either go upstairs to our living area, or you can come downstairs to the salon.
This is the view you are greeted with when you walk down the stairs.
This space is strictly for working, so if you are down here, you are probably a client coming in. Most likely you will end up sitting in this cozy spot in front of the warm fire place.
I added the biggest mirror I could find to one wall for few reasons:
  1. Because I wanted the pretty chandelier and the other lighting to bounce around more and knew a giant mirror would help with that.
  2. I love mirrors.
  3. I wanted it to be wide enough to reflect the barn door that is situated behind the cutting chair.
  4. I wanted a few statement pieces in this room, and I think the mirror is perfect to make the large room feel even more grand.
I wanted this space to be self containing, so I knew I needed some kind of beverage station.
I created this little corner very easily with some left over IKEA shelves and brackets, a bar fridge and my favorite coffee maker perfect for one client at a time.
I shared with you HERE my gold stripe trick.

I love making people feel comfortable and welcome and for me, that means giving them something to relax them. Sometimes its a hot coffee, or tea, or sparkling water, whatever you want, you got it, babbbbbyyyy.
(Like the song. Obvs.)

I used some pretty gold boxes to store extra sugar packets and specialty tea bags in.
Best of all, I love how, on a whim, I can switch the shelving pretties around for a different look and feel.
I am also a firm believer that coffee and tea go best with chocolate, so I keep an unhealthy stash of Ferraro Roche’s and the creamiest Swiss chocolate around — at all times.
Pretty wood grain straws sometimes accompany cold pop and/or juice for the mini clients who come in for a hair cut. Though, their favorite part is routing through the giant candy jar at the end of their appointment, for a lolly pop, ring pop or a candy necklace or five.
I am seriously feeling so blessed these days to work on the prettiest people.
People who’s inner beauty matches their outward beauty. People who’s opinion and hearts I value. People who I would choose to be friends with.
So, here is where I spend the majority of my time. Beautifying the best of the best, giving them the royal treatment, and loving every minute of it.

If you look closely at the next picture, you can see to the right of the room that we have a fun little corner, I cant wait to update you on how that little area has turned out!
Soon, I promise!
I still need to show you the finished salon bathroom, the barn door and how it came to be and the little corner of fun. I will try to do so on another break!
This post is for all of you who were wondering and asking about this area of our house! 🙂
We did finish the lower level and it was the best decision yet!
AND, because I love a good before and after, here is where we were…
