New Carpet Love!

Things are ALWAYS changing around here.
Our living room looked like THIS a few months ago but since I am a putter-er (that is a word, right?) I am always moving and rearranging things.
My poor family never knows where something will end up from one day to the next.
I cant count the times my poor hubs has asked where I have moved our every day kitchen dishes!
It`s an addiction.
We loved our cozy living room shag rug, we loved it so much it got a lot of wear love from our children.
I steam cleaned it a few times this spring trying to revive it to looking brand new again, which got my mind racing about what else we could use in this space.
At one point I brought home a beautiful graphic cream and black carpet from Homesence  (with my burning-a-hole-in-my-pocket-birthday-money) but my hubs reminded me plush cream wouldn’t stand a chance to our children. He convinced me that it would look fabulous in a blog post but that it would surely show spills and paw prints by days end.
Since I love my sweet readers, but love my sanity more, I returned the big beautiful carpet and turned to our Ikea catalouge for some inspiration.
EGEBY Rug, flatwoven IKEA The rug is hard-wearing and durable because it’s made of sisal, a natural fiber taken from the agave plant.
I found one like this, though ours is 8 feet by 10 feet and that size is not found online.
I loved the texture of this flat woven sisal rug and so we made the long trip to our closest Ikea with our three crazy babies.
Since, we always waste so much time, sitting in the beautifully clean show rooms while our children run wild in the play centre, we didn’t get home until very late.
Early the following morning I recruited some hard working little men to help me move in the new rug.
My mighty six year old and equally as helpful one year old really did help. 🙂
Small and mighty!
I really cant wait till they can mow the lawn and wash the car too! 😉
The whole time they straightened and unrolled that massive carpet, I laughed to myself and snapped a billion pictures, gosh we are blessed to have two hard working little men!
And that little squat! So cute.
After I jumped in to make sure it was just the way it should be, we braked for Popsicles before breakfast.
That’s how smart Mamma’s pay strong little helpers.
I also couldn’t help but laugh at this site too.
Princess Peach apparently.
Sheesh, this girl is going to have a rude awakening when I need her help to mow that lawn later. 😉
Anyways, we are enjoying the new rug and the kids are now working it in while they are home for summer vacation.
Once I clear off all the sand, and spot clean that unfortunate accident I will snap some more pics to share.
Life and home with kids is not tidy and perfect but it is messy and happy which is basically perfection anyways.
