Spring Ideas!

We are into our first week of march and I couldn’t be happier about Spring being around the corner.
Here, in Southern Ontario, we have piles of snow everywhere and it is freezing-your-but-off cold outside!
So, slowly we have been adding some thoughts of Spring around here to
make us feel like warm days and newness are right around the corner.
We added some green and some strips of burlap to make a Spring wreath for our front door.
A little friend, who was having a play date at our house helped place the little wooded eggs in the simple birds nest.
Together, her and my daughter picked out the scrabble pieces to spell “SING!”
Inside, we added some faux box wood wreathes to our china cabinet.
This was so simple, just get greenery squares from the dollar store and cut out the center.
I love the unexpected shape of these “wreathes” and the way they add a
pop of green to our little corner. Some Tiffany blue ribbon, tied with a
knot to catch on the inside of the cabinets, was all this quick project
needed.
I found this robins egg blue flower pot at our local thrift store for $2.

I love the little pop of pink the prim rose flowers echo against the pink flower on the pot.
A little moss on top, adds another layer, and keeps curious fingers from reaching in and eating that delicious looking dark soil. πŸ˜‰
Our dining room table now holds a little tray from Ikea along with a delicate white lace vase from Ikea. Inside we have small incentives for the kids. (I will leave that for another post though.)
I love the punch of white against the bright blue tablecloth. Very Spring-y!
I couldn’t help but encourage Spring to arrive!!
 “SPRING IS WELCOME!”
A purple-blue primrose was replanted into a piece from my ever growing milk glass collection.
I am the first to admit that I do not have a green thumb. But I have been diligent with these little beauties and I am hoping they can be planted outside in our garden in a few short months.

My daughter and I made little polka dot flags for a friends party and added them to our pretty flowers. They are made out of chocolate pop sticks and outdoor/waterproof material.

We cut and hot glued them into itty bitty flags. They were used as
little cupcake toppers and we decided to reuse them in our little potted
plant.

I love how they suggest a welcome party for Spring!
I put out a whole collection of wooden letters so our children can play with them at snack time and throughout the day.
We are always trying to find ways to make learning to read fun, and this way it can sometimes be THEM initiating it.
Our dining room side table got a little Spring-ified too.
On one of the coldest days of the year so far, my daughter and I stayed warm indoors making this polka dot banner.

As most of our project and crafting requirements go, it was so simple to make.
We took our outdoor material and cut matching squares and then turned them into flags by folding and cutting out the bottom.
We then glue them on to some twine by folding them over the back of the twine and sealing with hot glue.
Beneath the happy polka dot bunting…
We switched some items around to compile a tray of blues and whites.
We added some cake plates to our side table.
The cake plate holding the candies was actually previously made by taking a candlestick and adding a plate to the top with glue and then painting the entire thing white. (Thanks Mom)
Every “Welcoming Party” needs some treats. Us welcoming Spring was no exception.
The kids emptied a bag of little packs of smarties into one dish.
Colourful and bright!
Just what Spring time reminds us of!
My husbands Polish Grandmother gave us this hand painted wooden egg.
We adore old traditions and artistry, so this combination makes this piece a keepsake in our house.
AND…we definitely have an egg them going on this year it seems! πŸ˜‰
Our Spring decorations are simple and are mostly completed by accumulating items we already had.
I love when that works out! Maybe you have items around your house that could be put together to welcome Springs arrival too? You better hurry up, it is coming quickly!!
Ok, that is just wishful thinking! πŸ˜‰
I would love to hear about your favourite things to use to decorate for Spring?

Kelly, (Lily pad cottage)THANK YOU for the feature!!! So happy you liked the scrabble pieces on the wreath. It seems every other treasure hunting person is picking up the scrabble games these days, so the ones in my wreath are actually plastic with green lettering and are from a game called "Word up"?? lol Never heard of it before, but I love the fun color of them! πŸ˜‰
